Colorless Existence. The Grayeater can slip through narrow openings as if it were Small and takes no extra damage from critical hits with light-based attacks.
Fade into Shadow. In dim light or darkness, the Grayeater can use a bonus action to become invisible until it attacks or loses concentration.
Multiattack. The Grayeater makes two attacks with its Gray Claw.
Gray Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6+2) necrotic damage.
Devour Color. The Grayeater targets a creature within 5 feet. The target must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw; on a failure, it is weakened for 1 minute (disadvantage on attack rolls and damage rolls) as all color is drained from it.
The Story
The Rainbow Festival erupts in an explosion of color: ribbons flutter, soap bubbles drift through the air in rainbow hues, and music sounds on every street corner. Stalls overflow with sweets and glittering trinkets, and children race whooping between the legs of the dancers. But beneath all that gaiety you feel something shifting, something cold and patient and hungry.
At the great fountain the color begins to bleed away. A gray stain spreads, and everything it touches loses its hue, its sound, its joy: flowers wither to ash-gray, laughter falls to silence, and revelers stare ahead with empty, colorless eyes. A shadow is feeding on joy itself, and the festival is its most bountiful meal in years.
You track down the source of the grayness, rouse the drained children from their stupor, gather the brightest colors and loudest sounds of the festival as a weapon, and solve the riddle of what lured the shadow here in the first place. Along the way you discover that the anxious festival organizer knows more than she will admit.
At the heart of the fountain waits the Graygorger, a shadow-spirit of forgotten joy that longs to snuff out every color until the world is as gray as itself. Wherever it passes, everything fades to colorless silence. Will you rekindle the festival in full color and drive off the Graygorger, or will the last light go out and the laughter fall silent forever?
