The Story
The village still breathes, but barely. Grief hangs like mist between the houses, and on every door a white cross is chalked. A masked figure in a beaked mask walks slowly from house to house, a lantern held low in his hand. No one speaks, and the bells that should have tolled for the dead are silent.
This sickness is different. It kills too fast, and some of the dead stir again at night, shambling through the alleys with empty eyes. A young nun is convinced this is no natural plague, and that De Pestdokter met het Snavelmasker knows more than he lets on. In three nights the first of those who know the road to the city will reach its gates.
You search a village on the brink of collapse: interrogate frightened survivors, follow the plague doctor who seems to know too much, unravel the patterns behind the white crosses, and survive the nights when the dead rise. Fear, faith, and despair color every conversation, and not everyone wants you to find the truth.
The source does not lie where faith looks for it. When you discover that De Pestdokter met het Snavelmasker brought the plague here on purpose, and why, you must destroy the heart of the infection before the first risen dead reach the city gates. The climax forces a choice between mercy and survival, while all around you the last light in the village goes out.
