Breathing Walls. The Devourer can't be surprised while it is attached to a wall, floor, or ceiling of the dungeon.

Multiattack. The Devourer makes two Wallfist attacks.

Wallfist. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8+5) bludgeoning damage.

Engulf. One creature within 5 ft. must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or be engulfed in the walls; an engulfed creature is restrained and takes 14 (4d6) bludgeoning damage at the start of each of the Devourer's turns.

The Story

Everyone knows the old ruin in the hills, the Kerker van Gholmaw: dark corridors, chambers heaped with gold, adventurers walking in. What no one realizes is that no one ever walks out. The ruin is no structure but a creature, and the treasure is bait.

The walls breathe. Doors snap shut like wet jaws. Corridors seep acid the moment you linger too long, and the floor digests the bones of those who came before you. The creature lures with the scent of coins and jewels and shifts its own entrails to draw its prey ever deeper.

You have to read what the body tells you: which corridor is a gullet, which chamber a stomach, where the rhythm pounds hardest. You snuff out digestive juices, escape closing veils of flesh, and follow the heartbeat toward the center while the creature contracts around you.

The twist: De Verzwelger, as the elders call Gholmaw, keeps its heart in no single place but lets it wander, and every time you wound an 'organ' the creature grows fiercer and tighter. In the final chamber its walls clench into a fist while the hidden heart hammers wildly; you must pierce it as the walls creep inward to crush you. Strike true and the whole dungeon dies around you; miss, and you become its next meal.
