The Story

It began with a gift: a brass clockwork bird that alighted on your doorstep with a perfumed invitation in its beak. Whoever breaks the seal feels the world fold in on itself, and one breath later nothing fits anymore. Islands float in a sky without a horizon, staircases lead back to themselves, and two moons cast their shadows the wrong way.

This is a demiplane, a pocket of reality torn loose, built by a long-vanished spirit who could not bear the loneliness. The inhabitants here were never born; they simply awoke, thoughts given form, courteous and smiling and utterly without a past. They welcome you as long-awaited guests, and that alone should fill you with dread.

You wander through impossible architecture where distance and direction refuse to obey, decipher the logic behind doors that open onto the wrong rooms, and question inhabitants whose answers sound lovelier the less true they are. Every favor you accept, every bite you eat, weaves you deeper into the fabric of this place.

Then comes the turn: the demiplane of Architect Solivar is dying, because its maker is guttering out, and it keeps itself standing by absorbing visitors. At the core you find De Eenzame Architect, a figure of glass and congealed light who smiles with infinite courtesy as her world unravels. Now that you are here, this place already belongs to you a little, and it wants the rest of you too. To escape, you must convince De Eenzame Architect to let you go, or release him into the void. The climax plays out in the breathing core, as the world fades and the only exit seals shut.
